Sports Beat

The year 2007 started out on a sour note for me. My beloved Cornhuskers blew another lead and lost in the Cotton Bowl 17-14 to the Tigers of Auburn.

However, the year started to look a little brighter, after the Boise State Broncos (our family’s step-team) upset the Sooners of Oklahoma, 43-42 at the Fiesta Bowl in over-time. This was truly one of the greatest games played in college football history. David (BSU) beat Goliath (OU) using every trick in the book. Hook and ladder play with 7-seconds left in regulation, wide receiver pass for a touchdown in OT, and the statue of liberty play for a winning 2-point conversion. Not to mention, star RB Ian Johnson, proposed marriage to his cheerleader girlfriend on national TV right after the game! (She said, yes, of course.)

How 'Bout them Broncos!

(Think Dan Hawkins may be regretting his move to reviled Colorado now?)
