...

For a time, some will be remembered. However, it won't be very long before the connection is gone. (Notice the difference in the number of flowers left between the new and old sections of the cemetery.)

We are all going to die and this life is fleeting. I realize that this statement is not very profound. There are questions, however. Is my life meaningful? What happens after I die? These are a couple of things to consider.

The preacher in Ecclesiastes (1:14) looked at one view when he said, "I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind." Notice that he said "under the sun". Meaning, our lives are vain (or meaningless) if there is only this world to live for. After all, he who dies with the most toys still dies. You can't take anything with you. All that awaits is decomposition and decay. Is there more than this after we die?

I believe that there is. Emotional crutch? Some think so. But, in Romans 3:23 the apostle Paul said, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Later in 6:23 he stated, "For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." And he went on to state in 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." In Revelation 20:15 the apostle John made it clear, however, when he proclaimed, "And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

I believe this. What do you believe? Does it matter to you?

We attended the service at the Mead Cemetery today as well. The flags and trumpet Taps are very sobering and, as you have spoken, a reminder that each of us will find that last breath....and I believe the scripture is true, Christ waits for us just on the other side, if we sorrow for our sin on this side and accept this wonderful gift to spend eternity with Him on the other side!

Thanks for sharing your photos and the message. Memorial Day is not only to remember those who fought for our freedom, but the One who set us free!

In His Grace,
Sandy
