This week, Frontline (pbs), showed a two-part program on the Mormons. It was fairly interesting, but left out much of their theology (see my previous post). Instead it dealt with some biographical and community history. In addition, it looked at some contemporary issues related to the religion.

(Paraphrasing) "All religions are pretty much made-up because of our fear of death", was basically the final message of the program. Of course, what else would you expect from pbs? Never the less, it was worth watching. You can watch it online. Here is the link: (http://www.pbs.org/mormons/).

Having been raised in the Northwest, I've lived around Mormons for most of my life. In general, I find them to be polite, hard-working, and intelligent people. In fact, one of my best friends in Jr. high and high school was a Mormon. At that time, I was unaware of much of Mormonisms beliefs. Occasionally, I found myself quite curious about the religion. After all, Mormons usually live by a high moral standard and have caring family relationships. However, they are not Christians. Mormons do not accurately believe the truth of the Bible. They do not have a saving knowledge of Christ. It's important that we understand this. We need to share the truth of the gospel with them in kindness.

"But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence." - 1 Peter 3:15
