(Here is an update from the Elliott family in southern California. It's so great to hear from them. I hope Erick's words are as encouraging for you as they were for us. ...Thanks Erick, and may God continue to bless you and your family. - the Runge's)

Dear Family and Friends,
...The Lord is faithful and longsuffering, full of lovingkindness and tenderness to this Family. We are thankful that in His grace. To use a hunting analogy... because of our sloppy walk and untuned eyes and ears, we sometimes just see a quick glimpse of the prize, but because of His grace and mercy, He sometimes allows us to sit and be amazed as the blessings unfold in plain view before every one of our senses. He allows us to see His sovereign hand work in our lives. As Piper says, 'every good thing in life and every bad thing that God turns for good is a blood bought gift... every legitimate pleasure in the world becomes a blood bought evidence of Christ's love and an occasion of boasting in the cross'.
Can you think of some of the good things and bad things that turns for good in your lives?
We sure can... just to name a few that are near and dear to me...
My wife, children (which we are expecting another boy!), our Church, truck, and even that fat lovable dog on the back deck who hardly had enough energy to greet me when I get home from work.... they are all because of Christ. What an eye opener for this guy.
And yes, even the bad that turns for our good, points to Christ's love for me.
I think of a lot of things here.... many of you can read my thoughts here.
'God's aim is not that we merely admire His gifts, but even more His glory'- Piper
With fond love and affection,
Erick
