Article: The Faith of the Evolutionist

Last night I was watching my local PBS stations broadcast of a Nova episode called, "Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial". The show reenacted a trial that took place in Dover, Pennsylvania in which the local school board approved that the theory of Intelligent Design would be taught in conjunction with the theory of evolution. In the end, the judge ruled that because Intelligent Design is based on religious beliefs, then in light of the Establishment Clause, it can not be taught in public schools. So, it was reasoned, since Intelligent Design is rooted in religion and evolution is not, then evolution can be taught while Intelligent design can not.

One major problem (putting the misinterpretation of the Establishment Clause aside) is that evolution is rooted in religion too. While it may not be seen in the traditional systems that come to mind, it clearly is a religion. The evolutionist can not observe the origin of life, nor can life originate on its own (without outside influence) in any laboratory. So, whether they like it or not, the evolutionists worldview is based on faith. For more on this please follow this link.
